Is Jamaica safe?

Crime in Jamaica is centered in a few neighborhoods in the Kingston area
which is far from the location of our villa. There are some places that are
not safe to visit after dark and others where it is recommended that you do
not visit at all, again, these areas are not within the locality of our villa and
are not difficult to avoid.  Crime reported within the North Coast area, and
involving visitors generally relates to the theft of personal belongings left on
the beach and pick pocketing, for example.  You are advised to exercise
common awareness relating to your safety and that of your personal
belongings.
